Morning in the Caucasus

Day dawns — the haze of night
Veils the wooded mountains,
There is a silence at the foot of the Caucasus,
The herd is quiet, only the river rushes.

A newborn ray here on the rock
Blushes suddenly, streaming through the clouds,
And a sparkling pink spilled along the river and the tents,
Shine here and there —

As naked girls bathing in the shade,
When they see a young man,
They blush lowering their eyes to the ground,
But how to run, if the mischievous charmer is so close!..
